Hippotherapy is a type of therapy provided by registered Occupational, Physio or Speech and language therapists. Therapy goals are worked on using the horse’s movement, and although the session is on horseback, the aim is therapeutic rather than learning to ride.

Hippotherapy can be for anyone who requires therapy. The varied but beautifully rhythmical input from the ponies’ walk is so valuable to sensory and motor learning, and the different positions such as sitting sideways, facing backwards, lying or even crawl position provide a range of challenges. No previous riding experience is needed.
